History and Constitution

The Coventry Probus Club was formed in 1975, sponsored by the Coventry Rotary Club. An exploratory meeting was held on 5th December 1975, followed by the inaugural meeting which was held at Queens Road Baptist Church on 9th January 1976.
The first Chairman was Mr A Chadbourne who presided at the inaugural meeting. It was reported that 41 members were present at the meeting and that the total membership was 100.
The Constitution declared that the main aim was to provide a platform for social contact among retired or semi-retired professional and businessmen in Coventry and District. Membership is now open to a wider base of retired men, and there is also a ladies’ Probus group in Coventry.
